Privacy Policy
LiDify has no accounts, no servers and no analytics. Your scans, photos and models stay on your device. We cannot see them, and we could not retrieve them if you asked.
This policy explains the whole picture anyway, including the one feature that can send something off your device — which is optional, off by default, and asks you every single time.
Who we are
LiDify is made by Luther Brooks, an independent developer. You can reach us at privacy@lidify.app.
What stays on your device
Everything LiDify creates is written to the app's own folder on your iPhone or iPad:
- The photographs taken during a scan
- The 3D models reconstructed from them
- Your measurements, calibration values and prep settings
- App preferences, and a count of how many scans you have used
You can see all of it in the Files app under On My iPhone → LiDify, copy it out, and delete it. None of it is uploaded anywhere. We hold no copy and have no way to recover anything you delete.
The camera
LiDify asks for camera access because scanning requires the camera and the LiDAR sensor. The photographs are written to your device and used to build the 3D model. They are not sent anywhere unless you choose the feature described next.
The one thing that can leave your device
LiDify has an optional feature called Ask Claude directly. It is off unless you enter your own Anthropic API key, and it does nothing until you tap Send on a screen that lists exactly what will be sent.
When you do send something, it goes from your device straight to Anthropic at
api.anthropic.com, using your key, billed to your Anthropic account. It contains:
- Rendered images of the 3D model
- Up to six photographs from the scan, resized and re-encoded with all metadata removed — no location, no depth, no original EXIF
- The measurements you typed, any notes you wrote, and the prompt itself
It never contains the 3D model file. Anthropic states that uploaded images are ephemeral and are deleted once the request has been processed; their handling of your data is governed by your agreement with them, not by us. We never see any of it. LiDify has no AI account, no server in the path, and takes no payment for this feature.
There is a second AI option that sends nothing at all: LiDify can write everything to a folder you share yourself, into whichever assistant you prefer.
Your Anthropic API key
If you enter one, it is stored in the device Keychain, available only while the device is unlocked, and marked so that it never syncs to your other devices and is never included in a backup. It is attached to a request and otherwise never read. You can delete it at any time in Settings, which removes it from the Keychain.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We never receive your payment details, your name or your email address. Apple tells the app only whether a subscription is currently active.
What we do not do
- No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
- No tracking, in Apple's sense or any other — we do not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission because there is nothing to ask about
- No third-party SDKs in the app
- We do not sell or share your personal information
What Apple's privacy label says, and why
LiDify declares two data types to Apple: Photos or Videos and Other User Content, both marked not linked to your identity and not used for tracking, for app functionality only. That declaration exists because of the optional feature above — the only circumstance in which a photograph or a note can leave your device. If you never enter an API key, nothing is ever sent.
Children
LiDify is not directed to children and collects nothing from anyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Data protection law gives you rights over personal data a company holds about you — access, correction, deletion, portability. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase. Your data is on your device and under your control. If you have a question about any of this, write to privacy@lidify.app.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
